Our Annual golf tournament 2023

TCS Golf Day Blog Post
At first glance, you may wonder how the TCS Golf day transpired. Well we can safely say thank goodness it did because it’s everyone’s favourite day in the diary!

What is the TCS Golf Day?
Our annual charity golf day is our largest fundraiser of the year; one that’s met with a competitive streak but lots of laughter. It’s not just any old round of golf, it’s a round of 18 holes with some additional challenges and other fundraisers to opt into along the way. We have a putting competition, longest drive, beat the pro with the brilliant Tom Melville and the chance to win an Audi with the hole in one challenge!

The TCS golf day is all thanks to the late John MacPherson, a befriender, executive committee member but most of all an old friend. John was the brains behind organising such an event all those years ago. We have his passion for the charity and golf to thank for the number of teams that have participated and the monies raised over the years.

How did the 2023 Golf Day go?
2023 was yet again, a great success. The rain stayed off and although the sun wasn’t glaring through the clouds, we still had our fair share of rosey-faces!

We had 18 teams competing for the winning title. Teams came from far and wide to support Tayside Cancer Support. DM Hall however were the victorious team that really rose to the challenge on the 9th June achieving their goal – to be the winning team. This year’s winner of the individual competition, The John MacPherson Trophy, Campbell Donaldson was also a member of DM Hall with Runner Up Keith Scobie

Other winners included:

Red Ball Competition
Winners APS Dundee, Runner Up Xeretec

Nearest the Pin
Ladies – Aileen Jackson
Gents Simon Patience

Nearly (but didnt) Win an Audi – Grant Malcolm

Longest Drive:
Ladies – Angela Crabb
Gents Stephen Livie

We also had some winners off the course. With prizes to be won, left, right and centre in our auction, raffle and guess the player, almost everyone took home something that day.

A Special Thanks
To our volunteers. Volunteers are the heart and soul of our charity, we are always met with fantastic old and new faces on the day and we couldn’t run it without them.

All in all, it was a brilliant day. Our final count for the day came to an astounding total of £8,386.61. We want to thank all of our wonderful golfers for spending the glorious day with us, a thank you to Alyth for hosting for the 4th year in a row, Audi for sponsoring and of course to everyone who provided us with prizes for our raffle and silent auction. And once again, we would like to give huge thanks to all of our wonderful volunteers on the day, it really couldn’t have gone ahead without you all!

If you’re reading this and are wondering how you could get involved with the 2024 Annual Golf Day it’s nice and easy, all you have to do is drop us an email at [email protected].
